Since I am sure the person who always asks me about this will bug me if I don't post about my trip since it is actually something relatively interesting to me, I am going to do so. We left on Friday for Sacramento (about a six hour drive) around 5pm an hour after my dad had gotten home from work. First we had stopped at the library because a book I requested and really wanted to read had come in. I didn't start reading it immediately like I probably normally would have because I had and still have a cold and was extremely tired. Okay nothing really happened for the rest of the day except for some zs.
The next day we got up at six am, was ready to leave the hotel by around 9am and stopped at this Lions place for breakfast. I saw on the menu that they had tea/specialty tea, so I asked if they had green tea. The waitress said that sometimes they did and that she would check. They didn't, which was fine. We then stopped at Star Bucks. I stayed in the car with Isabelle and didn't ask for anything. Mom surprised me when she came out with the green tea and some sugar. I really did appreciate the gesture since I didn't ask for it, but really...they may make good coffee, but their tea (at least the green tea) is horrible. I might have been able to have drank it if I had more sugar, but we had already driven quite a ways before I actually was able to drink it. *Pictures at least one person snickering or shaking their head at this for they know the reason it took me a while to drink it.* For those of you who don't know me well, I can't stand really hot beverages, I usually wait until they are luke warm.
We arrived at my grandma's house at around 11:30am. I think I'm the only one who caught her muttering as we came in the door that they should have more baby showers because the house actually gets cleaned when they do. I ended up trying to stay away from my cousin as much as possible because of the cold. The actual baby shower wasn't supposed to start until 2pm, so to pass the time, my sister Jessica went through the Genesis Book of Records 2003 edition I believe and I read the story of the vampire Louis and his life with the vampire Lestat, occasionally glancing over to read a few things in what she was looking at. After a while my aunt got some pictures out that my cousin Cecil took from Iraq and set Interview with the Vampire down to go look at them. He is still there and supposed to come home soon. He and my cousin Justin are supposed to stop by our house on their way to Sacramento.
Jessica will have a field day. She loves picking on the two of them and they on her. She usually only sees one at a time, but with both I picture it being very amusing.
When 2 finally came around we started the baby shower since most people arrived; eating sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad, and a few other things. There were no games since most of the people there didn't care for the silly games that there usually are at baby showers. So after eating we went right to the gifts. Terra ended up getting a lot of hats and socks for her baby boy. Her mother had said that she doesn't want to see him without those on or Terra in more clothes than her baby since my cousin actually lives near the coast. I don't know where. I should have asked. She seems to have especially loved the hats my mom knitted for her. One was a barre (sp) and the other one basically a long cone with a puffy thing at the bottom. I thought this one was the cutest and I didn't remember seeing that one when she knitted it. Her friends got her expensive scrap book stuff and from what was being said costly pens. Her mom got her a little bit of everything it seemed. Grandma crosheid (sp?) a blanket. Grampa George and Julie got her a bit of everything too.
After that we had cake. It was apparently the first cake my aunt ever made. She'd normally decorate them, but not make them. It was a good cake, but not the type that I would care to have much. BTW I don't even know what type of cake it was. People left around 4pm and at 5pm I desperately wanted to take a nap. We got talking about Grampa George, how Terra was doing, her husband and such. I forgot to mention that she was due the next day or today since this is being written a day later. I was extremely surprised to hear that the baby shower was being held the day before she was due and expressed it.
At around 7pm we left and got home at around 1am. We had taken the car for this trip due to gas prices and the thing getting like 36miles to the gallon (that's what it got on the trip) compared to 14 miles to the gallon with the expedition.
